TREVOR FOSTER

Sip With Spirit.

I grew up in Seattle, the son of antique dealers who traveled Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia. I first came to Asia at nine months old. I learned early to find beauty in rough places.

I studied ceramics at the University of Washington under Akio Takamori, Doug Jeck, and Jamie Walker, graduating with honors in 2013. For ten years I painted delft on bone china for slip-casting artist Charles Krafft.

I saved what I could and came to Thailand with limited resources. Built the studio piece by piece. I’ve been based in Chiang Mai for over a decade. Since moving here I’ve run nine Kickstarter campaigns, shown work in five countries, and held a solo exhibition at SAC Gallery in Bangkok. I did a porcelain residency in Arita, Japan, collaborated with Trader Vic’s and Strong Water Anaheim, and picked up mezzotint printmaking along the way.

Everything I make begins as a philosophical inquiry that takes shape as a physical object. Memento mori skull cups, slipcast forms, tiki mugs, and limited hand-painted editions designed for everyday ritual. I make work every day. Refining it bit by bit, getting a little better.

Live deliberately, for this breath is borrowed. Make something that outlasts the hands that shaped it.
