3 years ago, I was in Nepal to meet with local artisans because I wanted to learning about hand-knotted rugs, a tradition dating back thousands of years. When COVID hit, the artisans I met found themselves in a difficult situation, leaving many without work. Together, we designed the hand knotted Sokushinbutsu (Deepest Meditation) Rug.

Each rug is:

– Hand knotted making each one unique
– Takes one craftsman around 60 days to weave one piece
– Made from 100% natural sheep’s wool
– Extra thick pile 32 x 42 inches size

The devastation of covid wasn’t the sole reason I wanted to work with these artisans. I also believe that this tradition may not exist in 25 years.

This hand-knotted wool Tibetan meditation rug, is a reimagining of my previous themes. Rooted in my exploration of cultural narratives, this piece features a Sokushinbutsu scene—an embodiment of transcendence—depicting a serene skeleton in the lotus position. A juxtaposition of mortality and meditation it portrays an intersection of life and contemplation, a theme that has woven throughout my earlier artworks.

Most Common FAQs

We offer free shipping on all orders $150 and over within the US. Orders under $150 pay a flat rate per order of $10 plus $4 for each additional item.

Orders from outside the United States pay a flat rate of $35 per order plus $15 for each additional item. Discounted shipping is not available for international orders at this time.

Typically orders are shipped within 1-3 business days and delivered within 4-8 days after an order is placed. Orders are sent out Monday through Friday.

We do provide tracking information (upon request) via email or through our contact us page. We’re small studio- we’ll work on updating this information in real time in the near future.

In the rare event you’re not happy with your order, we accept returns within 14 days of your order arriving at your door. Simply pay for return shipping and ship your order in original condition within 14 days. Contact us via our contact us page to process your request.
