Toast to Life and Death
This skull cup made from stoneware and high fired with a celadon glaze, echoing the colors found in Imperial jade. Living and traveling in Myanmar and Thailand I have long been enamored with the rich hues found in jade. I have spent the last few months concocting a glaze to capture the array of greens found in Jade.
The formula is now complete and I’m pleased to present my latest creation. The skull motif, universally associated with mortality, is juxtaposed against the jade’s symbolism of eternal life and vitality, prompting reflection on the value of life and pursuit of immortality.
A Handcrafted Reminder to Savor Life’s Beauty
The contrast between the two can be seen as a reminder to appreciate the preciousness of life, to live in the present moment, and to strive for immortality. This cup serves as a unique reminder to reflect on the paradoxical nature of life and death, and to encourage us to appreciate the fleeting and beautiful moments of our existence. Each piece is handcrafted which allows for intricacy and detail that mass-production techniques cannot replicate.
Distinctly Rare and Limited Edition
I strive to make each cup a unique and individual piece of art. Each piece will be signed and numbered, and will limited to a production run of only 300 cups- ensuring that it will remain as rare as Imperial jade.
